Glossary

Some of our words simplified!

Static or Basic website contains information about product or services and this information will remain the same over a period of time. Static or basic websites are suitable for small to medium businesses providing information about their services.

Dynamic websites are connected to a database. This database stores information about products and services. These websites have a login facility where the administrator can login and make changes to the database. Once the changes are done they are reflected on the website. These websites are suitable for selling services online where there is a need for constant change.

ASP stands for Active Service Pages that are used for programming dynamic websites and allow administrators/users to make changes to the database and display these changes on the website.

Banners are the main features of a website as they are the main attraction. These animations are designed in Flash or Fireworks. Flash / Fireworks are programs for designing animated images or movies for website banners.

Search Engines (like Google) are used by visitors to find organisations selling services/products. We register your site in search engines and some of these search engines use key words to search for a website. We use keywords to maximise the chance of a search engine picking up the website.

Login Feature is a secured method of using a username and password to access the pages of a website for administration, where visitors to the website cannot access.

Online payment can be integrated into a website and we recommend our clients use PayPal (used by eBay for online payment)
